Quality Certification
Gas Safe
Barford Heating Ltd. has been a part of Gas Safe since 1972.
All of our service engineers are Gas Safe registered, and have a range of qualifications that allow them to carry out specific types of gas work. It’s VERY important to check that any engineer working on your boiler is registered.
It’s all about safety! If someone other than a Gas Safe registered engineer does the gas work in your home, you could be risking the safety of your family and your property. Badly fitted and poorly serviced gas appliances can cause gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.
Our gas engineers carry a Gas Safe Register ID card with their own unique licence number, showing the type of gas work they are qualified to do. Make sure you always ask any engineer to show you their Gas Safe Register ID card before allowing them to undertake any gas work on your property.

OFTEC
"It is our mission to promote excellence in oil heating and cooking” - OFTEC.
OFTEC perform the equivalent role to oil safety as Gas Safe perform to gas safety - and offer similar assistance and regulation.
What do OFTEC do?
OFTEC keep an up-to-date register of approved oil engineers that can be referred to by consumers and authorities alike, making it easier to either find an approved engineer or to check the eligibility of a specific engineer.
Much like Gas Safe, OFTEC also offer assistance to consumers and engineers regarding safety information, regulations and general know-how. OFTEC are self-appointed watchdogs of oil heating and cooking, and provide the foundation for safer working practices.
Why use OFTEC registered engineers?
All OFTEC registered engineers undergo a thorough assessment and training program to government-recognised standards, but if you need further assurances that an OFTEC registered engineer is a must, then please read through the following checklist:
You should use an OFTEC registered engineer because they:
-
Are individually trained at an OFTEC Approved Training Centre, and have their skills independently assessed before they can apply for OFTEC Registration.
-
Have their work inspected periodically by an OFTEC Inspector.
-
Are re-assessed every five years to maintain their Registration status.
-
Carry an Identity Card confirming the type of oil heating work for which they are registered.
-
Have to hold appropriate insurance to work in your home.
-
Are able (in England and Wales) to self-certify work for which they are Registered. This saves you time and money, as non-registered technicians must - by law - notify Local Authority Building Control, or submit plans when installing oil-fired appliances.
-
Will leave you a written statement of the work they have done on your appliance, replacement parts fitted and recommendations for work needed in the future.
